Lucy’s Dress Hire

Postage and returns

How Lucy’s Dress Hire gets your piece to you, how to send it back, and what happens if it is late or damaged.

How postage works

Lucy’s Dress Hire sends pieces by tracked post, before your rental starts. Postage time is not counted in your rental period.

You are told when your piece has been posted, with the tracking number when Lucy’s Dress Hire adds one.

When it arrives, check it and mark it as received in your booking.

If it has not arrived when it should have, tell Lucy’s Dress Hire and raise it from your booking.

What postage costs

The postage for your booking is shown at checkout before you pay.

If you collect in person one way and post the other, you only pay postage for the direction that is posted.

Late returns

Please return your piece on time. A late return can mean the next customer's booking cannot go ahead.

If a piece comes back late, Lucy’s Dress Hire can raise a late return claim through Ourfit within 2 days of marking it as received. The claim states the amount Lucy’s Dress Hire is asking for and why.

Lucy’s Dress Hire's late fee is one day's rental for every day the piece is late. One day's rental is the rental price of your booking divided by the number of days in the rental. In total a late fee is never more than the piece's declared value, the limit shown to you at checkout, and late fees and damage charges together never pass that limit. A posted return counts from the day it was posted, not the day it arrives. The fee is never charged on its own: it is only ever asked for through a late return claim.

You have 5 days to respond. You can accept the claim, offer a different amount or contest it. A claim you contest is reviewed by Ourfit, which decides on the evidence from both sides.

Your card is only charged for a late return once you have accepted the claim or Ourfit has decided it.

The amount charged to your card through a claim can never be more than the limit shown to you at checkout.

If a piece is not returned at all, Lucy’s Dress Hire can raise a claim for it in the same way.

Damage

You do not pay a bond. Your card stays on file for the booking instead.

If a piece comes back damaged, Lucy’s Dress Hire can raise a damage claim through Ourfit within 2 days of marking it as received. A damage claim must include photos and a written reason.

The most that can be charged to your card through a claim is the limit shown to you at checkout, before you authorise your card. That limit is the piece's declared value or, for a piece without one, a limit worked out from its rental price.

You have 5 days to respond. You can accept the claim, offer a different amount or contest it. A claim you contest is reviewed by Ourfit, which decides on the evidence from both sides.

Your card is only charged for damage once you have accepted the claim or Ourfit has decided it.

If no claim is raised within those 2 days, the rental is complete.

Ourfit's renter terms describe what counts as damage and what counts as normal wear.

Pickup

You can collect your piece in person. Choose pickup at checkout, and Lucy’s Dress Hire confirms the details with you in messages.

Pickup has no postage charge.

When you collect your piece, confirm it in your booking.

Sending it back

Your piece is due back on the last day of your rental.

For a posted return, post it that day. Use the return satchel or label if one came with your piece. The return address is shown in your booking once it is confirmed.

Then mark it as sent back in your booking, and add the tracking number if you have one.

For a return in person, bring it back to Lucy’s Dress Hire that day and confirm the return in your booking.

Lucy’s Dress Hire marks the piece as received when it is back.
